Medicare Advantage plan changes can feel overwhelming—especially with news that a major insurer’s targeted 2027 exits could affect around 600,000 members. If your Medicare Advantage plan isn’t renewed, rest assured: your Medicare eligibility remains. Unless you select a new plan, you’ll transition back to Original Medicare.

The main enrollment window for switching runs from early to mid-fall, with most changes taking effect in the new year. There’s also a special period that extends into mid-first quarter for those who need extra time. If you’re considering switching to Original Medicare, you may be eligible for a protected Medigap window—this opens 60 days before your coverage ends and lasts up to 63 days after.

When reviewing your options, look beyond just the premium. It’s important to consider your doctors, hospitals, drug coverage, copays, deductibles, and your maximum out-of-pocket costs. Sometimes a $0 premium comes with bigger tradeoffs elsewhere.

My role is to provide clear, personal guidance—so you feel confident about your next steps and well-supported as you choose the coverage that fits best.
